What do we wear?
There's no single right answer for this. It depends on where our photo shoot will be; what season it is; and your personal preferences. In general, we suggest:
- Dress in the same or complimentary color families. This does not mean you have to all dress identically! A bit of variety in a picture can really make it visually interesting
- Dark colors tend to minimize body size, while light colors emphasize body size;
- Avoid busy patterns or bright colors
- Wear long sleeves where practical (elbows are not our most attractive part) This isn't as true for children, but long sleeves work best as a general rule
- Cool, neutral shades such as blue and green emphasize the face and always look great in photos.
Will you come to my house for pictures?
Absolutely! We do all our work either at your home or at virtually any location you wish. This includes forests, parks, and backyards. We are completely portable and use special battery-powered lights that allow for a professional photo just about anywhere.
What if I want to a sitting with a backdrop?
Not a problem! While we prefer to use existing areas such as fireplaces, or trees as a background, we know this doesn't always meet your needs. When we plan your shoot we will ask you what sort of background you would like (if any).
How long does a sitting last?
Generally our sittings last between 2-3 hours. This may seem like a long time, however we normally will do several different arrangements and often several locations (when possible) to give you a variety of pictures to choose from. Also, many parents ask for individual portraits or "candids" of the kids, and this adds to the session time.
When do I get the proofs?
Because we shoot everything digitally, we can review the pictures immediately following the shoot. Normally we can post the proofs to our website within a week for you to review. We can also provide proofs to you on CD at no extra charge.
